Sowa Rigpa and its infrastructure in Ladakh.

Introduction - Gsowa Rigpa system popularly known as Amchi system is an integral part of unique Culture heritage of Ladakh. Its practice is found in different region of South and Central Asia, stretching along the chain of the Himalayan region of Ladakh of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pardesh, Sikkim , Arunachal Pradesh in India, the neighboring state of Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and extending to Mongolia and some part of Russia. The etymology of Gsowa Rigpa means the Science of healing which reflected the definition of terror "Svasthya" or health defined as a complete state of equilibrium between the interconnected physiological, psychological, spiritual and environmental system. This medical system has a centuries old historical background and documented in thousand of text and manuscripts which have a strong theoretical foundation and deals with all aspects of preventive and curative aspect. The efficacy of its popular system for maternity care a range of chronic cases , skin problems gastric disorder, cold climatic factors, orthopedic and geriatric problem are familiarly well known in clinical circle and has a enormous potential for research and improving the quality for health care in India and abroad. Ladakh region being a vast area and inaccessible villages, the Amchis are playing a vital role to deliver primary health care particularly in rural villages. This Amchis has established themselves an integral part of public health care and complementing the modern allopathic system. The richness of the indigenous Amchi practice which combines dietary and lifestyle advice, a wide range of medicine based upon herbal, mineral and spiritual therapies proves that Gsowa Rigpa system is a holistic system. Gsowa Rigpa and its infrastructure in Ladakh. There are more than 200 Amchis both institutional and traditional Amchis out of which 40 Amchis are taken under the health department role to provide Amchi treatment. These amchis are providing some stipend with annual drugs. One Amchi s OPD is functioning in the parallel to allopathic system in SNM,hospital where patients of all category visit this Amchi OPD, at present the average daily patient remains 40 to 60 patients. The most patients are related to hypertension, orthopedic, pulmonary cases, and skin problems. Having free from any side effect and holistic approach the number of patients drastically increase every year. Five year degree course in run by institute of Budhist studies in Choglamsar Ladakh. The basic qualification for admission to this course needs to be 10+ 2 academic qualification with science. This institute confers a Kachupa degree certificates. The duration for this course is 5 year in theory followed by one year practical training. Such degree course is also run in other part of India like His Holiness Dalai Lama Medical Institute Dharamsala, Sarnath University Varanasi, Chagpori Institution Dharjeling. 4 year diploma course called Dusrapa course is run by reported NGO Ladakh Amchi Sabha in collaboration with Ladakh Society for Traditional Medicine. The basic qualification to enter this course is matriculation with good Boti knowing. Institution for Gsowa Rigpa Research Centre is activity engage in research and development activity. Ayush Ayush is a part of the ministry of health and family welfare of the Govt. of India . The Department was established in march 1995 as a part of ISM & H (Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy. The department is Charged ie uphealding educational standards in the ISM& H Medical Colleges,strengthing researches promoting the cultivation of Medical plants used and working on pharmacopoeia standards.Ayush the Indian System of Medicine and Hom. were given the Indian Medicine cCentral Council Act 1970 Now there are tow councils of ISM&H

4.He completed his MD Degree from Erlangen University in 1779 the subject of thesis was "A consideration of the etrology and therapatus of sparmodic affectionris" in the year 1796 the discovery was brought to light in his essay Titled "An Essay on a new principle for Ascertaining the curative power of Drugs and some examinations of the previous principles"Tthat means 1796 is the year of birth of new system of Medicine called Homoeopathy. Homoeopathy is a system of pharmaco-dynamic in nature, Treatment of disease by the use of small amount of a drug that is proved on Healthy Human Beings.
Dr. Samual Hahemann has written in his Doctor Organon of Medicine on Page 1st. The physicians High and Only Mission is to Restore the sick to health to cure as & and termend for the complete cure of the Disease Dr. Samual Hahemann's Clinical Classificatin of disease but unfortunately here is no awareness about the Ayush Systems of Medicine nor educated as well as educated persons in Urban and Rural areas of Leh District believes only Amchi System and knows about Amchi/Allopathy System of medicine only.According to daily record of patients of Ayush Section in SNM Hospital Leh is 3/4 non localian for the awareness of people of ladakh about is Moit are..

Organise Community awareness Medicine ie Mahila Mandals involve panchayats and Anganvadi workers.
3.Explain the ISM&H systems to general people mainly by the medical staff.
4. Give the Choice of treatment of disease in different streams of Medicine.
Homoeopathy
It is the second line treatment in the world .Homeopathy is a system of Medical treatment promulgated by Dr. christian Fredreick Samual Hahnemann in a village saxony of Germany.
Siddha-indian origin
Homoeopathy Germany.
The Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani,Siddha , Homoeopathy all have their own strengths and in some cases these are more effective than Allopathy though a large segment of population about 80% perticularly among educated persons in urban people in rural areas believe in this system, yet the spread of the system in the country is quite inadequate mainly because of lack of awarenes among the general public about the remedies which the system can give me effetivity while suffering at home and which are most cast effective and are commonly available at their door steps. Number of Ayush Doctors/Pharmacists and other staff working on permanent parts or under even under NRHM scheme at for fullfilling areas in District Leh Ladakh since 2009.
